Author's note: Still in 3rd person, it's a bit short but I want to switch back to 1st person in the next chapter.
Two centaurs talking is spoken in centaur.
Sallan had just completed the creation of an illusion - the final part of the test, when there was a shout and a sudden blur of movement through the trees.
"Filthy human, corrupting our people with your distractions!" screamed Darandarjan.
Galloping towards Hallon, he aimed a kick at the mans head, that would have shattered his skull had he not ducked away.
"Hallon, get out of here!" yelled Sallan urgently, as Darandarjan turned to make another run at him.
"What about you?"
"I'll be fine, run!"
Hallon needed no more urging, he ducked into the trees and disappeared. Darandarjan slowed down to face Sallan, who stood his ground firmly and looked straight back.
"So...this is where you've been sneaking of to? Sallandarandas, I expected more of you, I am grievously disappointed."
"I did nothing wrong."
"I do not make the Laws, and you should not have broken them. I therefore declare you Exiled, Sallandarandas, according to the ancient Laws."
"But..."
"You will not re-enter the plains."
"Will you tell Karlinallisallia for me, please?"
"Very well, wait here."
Darandarjan returned to the nearby Centaur village, and spent the better part of an hour telling his sister what had occurred.
To Karlinallisallia he said;
"Sallandarandas has been exiled from the plains, for the practice of magic - taught by an entertainer."
"What?" exclaimed Karlina. "I have to go with him!"
"I am sorry to tell you that he did not want you to."
"Please will you tell him anyway? You're an Elder, you can speak with him!"
"For my dearest niece, I will try."
Sallan spent the night in the clearing, Darandarjan returned at dawn.
"I have a message from my niece, she said; Tell Sallandarandas that I no longer wish to be betrothed to him."
"Thank you, I will leave now," said Sallan, intending to search for Hallon.
Karlina waited impatiently for her uncle's return.
"What did he say?"
"I am sorry, Karlina, his answer was the same."
About five years later, Karlina's uncle took ill and while he was feverish confessed his deception to her.
During those same five years, Sallan travelled with Hallon Sandasson learning the tricks of their trade.
