Author's note: Prompt by Krystal Gryphon.
Jenova has seen most of the world, from desert to plain to forest to mountain. She’s slept in caves and castles, beneath pale stars and bright sun. She’s claimed territories in human lands and demon realms. She’s roamed where she wished, lived according to her own whims. And always, her House has followed her. Bound by loyalty, fear and awe, they have never rebelled against her.
It wasn’t until her first son was born, when she held him in her arms and watched as he fell asleep, that she felt at peace. Comforted by the beating of his heart and charmed by his tiny hands twitching as he dreamed. Contented by the feeling of being needed, trusted. And in that moment she knew, as the triplets later reinforced, that she had found her home. Not a place, nothing that concerns her House, but something far more precious.
Her home is with her children.
